EASTER BUNNY TIME! Student Gov celebrated WACKO being over on Monday by having a visit from the Easter Bunny, with over 400 eggs hidden in the student gov suite. They restocked the eggs and hid them for Yearbook staffers to have their own egg hunt on Thursday to celebrate the Yearbook being submitted on time. Photos by Avian.

IMPERIAL POST-ITS: WDS US History had an imperialism simulation on Wednesday. The groups were each a different country and had to answer questions about imperialism in order to claim things in the room with their country’s flag that they had to draw. Some countries (Britain, France, and Spain) had easier rules because they had more resources and an easier time claiming lands, while other countries that were later to imperialism were slowed down because they couldn’t start claiming until they had answered all of the questions correctly and had to draw super complicated flags in detail. eSPORTS TEAM PHOTO DAY: On Monday, the team had official photos taken by Micah.

WHAT A SHOW: The Muscial produced by Chugiak-Eagle River Drama Club was a smashing success, selling out completely the Steve Premis Auditorium for the first time in 25 years last weekend for Senior Night. Photos by Abigail, Abie, and Kyra.

ROUND-UP: Mustang Round-Up on February 27th was PACKED with future Mustangs learning about clubs, sports, activities, and the rest from Chugiak Students. Big shout out to Admni, Tab, Mary, and the rest of the support staff for pulling off such a smooth evening.

SPANISH IMMERSION SENIORS: Spanish Immersion is preparing to celebrate the 12-year journey of their senior cohort and took group photos for the program. Photos by Micah.

ALL TALK: DDF concluded their season with a trip to the state championships, where over half of the team medaled in individual events. Senior Scout Brunswick was nominated for a command performance for her Solo Acting piece, “Joy’s Pitch,” about a woman pitching motivational stickers on Shark Tank while having a mental breakdown. Wayne Barnum also qualified for Nationals in Domestic Extemporaneous speaking.

PARTNER’S CLUB BASKETBALL: Chugiak Partner’s Club squared off against West’s partner’s club for a Unified Basketball game on 2/20. Special jerseys were made and raffled off as fundraisers for each team’s respective club. Photos by Scout.

BEST OF ALASKA, ON A WALL, THANKS TO A WALL: Art students traveled to Homestead elementary in February to paint a mural in the main hallway for students to enjoy. Photos by Kelsyn.

GET CULTURED: WDS had a “Culture Night” in Anchorage on 2/20 where they went to Anchorage Museum, had dinner catered by Bean’s Cafe at 5th Ave Mall, and went to the PAC for a performance of SIX the Musical. This was an evening field trip allowing parents and siblings to join in and it was SO MUCH FUN that we are doing it again in April! Join us for Aladdin, with museum, dinner, bus, and show ticket for just $70 a person. Bring your friends and your kids. More info coming after Spring Break, but pencil in April 11th or 16th. WDS FAMILY NIGHT: WDS held their spring family night, with students and parents seminaring together on “The Internet,” a chapter from John Green’s The Anthropocene Reviewed. They discussed the role of the internet in modern society and parental choices around allowing children access.

THROWBACKS + APPRECIATION: Teacher Appreciation night for Basketball was held in February, with the theme for the game being “Throwbacks.” Cheerleaders dressed in a variety of retro uniforms from the vaults, and many vintage Chugiak peices were seen in the crowd. Photos by Bella and Caleb.

BHM POTLUCK: Students celebrated Black History Month with Mrs. Chounaird and Ms. Fenoseff and a potluck lunch.

CROSS SEMINAR: On 2/13, WDS held their Q3 Cross Seminar, where they coached and discussed chapter 9 of One Man’s Wilderness, titled “Reflections,” and discussed what a person really needs to be happy. Photos by Abigail.
