State Testing Week Good Things!

CAN FAITHS CO-EXSIST? // Alaska World Affairs Council, invited by Stephanie Thornton, hosted a comparative religions panel with representatives from many diverse faith communities of Alaska in the auditorium on Wednesday afternoon. Photos by Avian/Anya

STARTING STRONG // WDS had their usual student of the month gathering during 1st hour on Monday, but the upperclassmen handed out state testing care packages to the freshmen and sophomores in addition to the usual certificates and hot wheels cars that students of the month receive. The care packages had encouraging notes from each student’s “family,” snacks, juice boxes, calm strips for their chromebooks, friendship bracelets, and other treats.

NJROTC GOES TO JBER // The NJROTC and friends visited JBER on a field trip on Thursday. They explored airplanes and met some friendly attack dogs! Photos from guest photographer Julia Henegar.

CANDIDATE FORUM WITH AP GOV // Mrs. Logan’s AP Gov class organized a candidate forum for current school board candidates as well as assembly and mayoral candidates. Questions were submitted ahead of time by students and culled by the AP Gov class. The forums were moderated by AP Gov students, including Rowan Campbell and Maddie Rutledge. DDF CELEBRATES // The DDF end-of-season banquet was held Friday night. We celebrated Wayne Barnum qualifying for nationals, said goodbye to seniors Scout Brunswick and Rowan Campbell, and had celebrity appearances from DDF alumni. Photos by Micah McDougall

HOPPY EASTER // NHS had a crazy successful easter egg hunt Saturday and raised lots of money and canned goods for local food pantries. Photos by Scout and Abigail W.

EUGENICS OR NAH? // WDS US History had a debate on eugenics during 1st and 5th hour this week. It got intense. Photos by Avian/Anya

DAY AT THE DOME // Freshman Regina spent all of last Saturday at the Dome covering tons of early-season spring sports, including boys and girls soccer and track.

BOOK SMASH UPS // Tempsey’s class, with help from Stephanie, did a book smash-up challenge.
