JOY TO THE WORLD: Band’s Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 14th featured a cameo from Coach Spackman reading “‘Twas The Night Before Christmas” with the band playing the accompanying musical arrangement. Sophomore Ben Harmon was the MVP of the night, starting with a cold open drum solo for Jazz Band, skipping his 2nd hour for a week to help Concert Band with their percussion section, and playing the bells from the Auditorium ceiling catwalk to really bring home the concept of “surround sound.”

GIRL POWER: Women’s Wrestling took first at Regionals. The whole team (boys and girls) also received a GPA award! Photo from Mustang Wrestling’s Facebook page. We’d love more photos if anyone has any!

WHITE ELEPHANT: DDF had their Holiday party with a white elephant that included two categories: “Weirdest thing you can find” and “Something You’d Actually Want to Get.” We’ll you decide which category the hello kitty ping pong ball kit and Barilla pasta should have been in. Yes, Riley’s new locker signs do say “Girl boss. Gatekeep. Gaslight.”

JAZZ BAND JOURNEYS: Jazz Band traveled to Mirror Lake and Gruening to spread some holiday tunes last week, and then followed it up with a gig at the Diamond Center yesterday. They were joined by Service High Band Director (and former Gruening director), Christopher Lubkin, first-year Dimond Band Director Jimmy Webb, South High Band Director Justin Somaduroff, and Palmer Middle and High Band Directors Barb Carroll and Christ Loescher. TAKE THE PLUNGE: Polar Plunge happened (this morning!) December 18th. The team raised over $4,500 for the Special Olympics of Alaska! Photos by Megan Sutton.

CHOPPED: FCCLA had a Holiday-themed chopped competition at their December meeting. Photos by Hailey Pierce.

WE”VE GOT SPIRIT (GEAR): Shy, Skye, and Alliyah model the latest round of Spirit Gear in stock now at the Student Store. This was mostly pre-orders, so very limited sizes remain. Shorts are $22, Hoodies, Crewnecks, and Sweats are $30 or 2/$55. We still have t-shirt options and other crew necks and long sleeves as well. Stop by when the store reopens Jan 3rd to check it out!
